Instrument Preamp for Piezo Pickups
BigAmp Piezo is a small, high-quality FET instrument preamp that performs just as well on stage as in the studio. It features a 1/4" female jack input that accepts signals from piezo transducers.
BigAmp Piezo’s low-noise Class A amplifier provides 3dB of high-frequency gain, followed by a low-impedance balanced output buffer that reveals every detail and offers top-class sound quality. The output signal from your instrument is converted from an unbalanced to a balanced signal.

Piezo
A piezo transducer typically has an impedance of several megaohms, which is much higher compared to the high-Z input on instrument preamps or mixing consoles. This prevents transducers from delivering their potential output signal to the preamp and limits transient response. Additionally, the high impedance, combined with the cable capacitance to the preamp, forms a low-pass filter, often causing a piezo transducer to sound uninspiring.
BigAmp Piezo is specifically designed to overcome these issues. It has an input impedance of 7.5 megaohms, allowing piezo transducers to deliver their full potential. The signal gain is low (3dB) to allow for the highest possible headroom. Due to its small size, BigAmp Piezo can be connected as close to the transducer as possible, minimizing cable capacitance.
