ScaleNordic is built on decades of hands-on experience in live sound, music production, professional audio equipment, and the music industry. We understand what musicians, sound engineers, and audio professionals expect from their equipment because we have spent much of our working lives using, testing, and supplying it ourselves.
Our philosophy is simple: exceptional quality, thoughtful design, and reliable performance should not have to come with an excessive price tag. By combining technical expertise, carefully selected manufacturing partners, and valuable feedback from professional users, we aim to offer products that deliver excellent performance and outstanding value.
Today, ScaleNordic brings together a carefully selected range of musical instruments and professional audio equipment from established manufacturers, alongside our own Scale brand. Whether you are preparing for a demanding live performance, equipping a recording studio, or building your personal instrument rig, our goal is to provide equipment you can rely on with confidence.
Our Brand – Scale
Scale was created with a clear ambition: to develop professional audio products that combine excellent quality, practical design, and competitive pricing. Our extensive experience in live sound, recording studios, and professional audio distribution has given us a detailed understanding of what truly matters when equipment is put to work.
Our Loudspeaker Origins
The Scale story began with professional loudspeakers. Our first products were the CD and FR series, which we took over from Nova. The Scale CD12 originated from Nova's KD12, while the Scale FR12 was based on Nova's IC12. These models became the foundation of our own loudspeaker range.
But we did far more than simply change the brand name. Working with the same manufacturing facility and the same German engineers behind the original Nova models, we expanded both series and continued improving their design, performance, and overall quality. We built on an established foundation while developing loudspeakers that reflected our own experience and expectations of professional live sound equipment.
One of the most significant later developments was the Scale CD18 subwoofer, a model we are particularly proud of and an important milestone in the evolution of our loudspeaker range.
The Scale CD and FR loudspeakers achieved considerable commercial success in Norway. Large numbers were sold, and our speakers became a familiar sight on stages and at live events throughout the country. From small venues to larger productions, they established a strong presence in the Norwegian live sound market and helped build the reputation of the Scale brand.
From Loudspeakers to Cables
As Scale continued to grow, we turned our attention to another essential part of professional audio: cables. We brought the same philosophy to cable development that had guided our loudspeaker range – practical experience, carefully selected manufacturing partners, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering professional quality at competitive prices.
Our Scale Touring Grade cable series is a clear example of this approach. We spent approximately six years searching for the right cable manufacturing partner, evaluating samples from around ten different factories along the way. Many of these samples simply did not meet the standards we had established through decades of experience with professional audio equipment.
During development, we tested numerous conventional four-core cable constructions. Although these designs offered characteristics we were looking for, we found many of them too thick and stiff for practical live applications. Working closely with our selected manufacturing partner, we adopted a different approach: our 4-Core Twinning Process. This construction was chosen to deliver the cable characteristics we wanted while providing the flexibility and handling required for everyday professional use.
Our background also includes extensive experience with premium cable manufacturers such as VOVOX and Klotz. Having distributed VOVOX cables in Norway for approximately 15 years and worked extensively with Klotz products, we had established benchmarks to guide the development and evaluation of our own cables.
Every assembled Scale Touring Grade cable is hand-soldered and backed by a lifetime warranty. It is our way of demonstrating how seriously we take the quality and durability of the products carrying the Scale name.
From our first loudspeakers to our latest cable developments, our mission remains the same: to create professional audio solutions that meet the practical needs of the people who use them, combining carefully considered engineering, dependable construction, and excellent value for money.
Our Journey
ScaleNordic AS was established in Norway in 2019 by Robert Storm Olsen and Frode Skinstad. Built on their extensive experience in the music and professional audio industries, the company focuses on distributing high-quality musical instruments and professional audio equipment throughout the Nordic region.
We work with established manufacturers and authorized suppliers, carefully selecting products that meet our expectations for quality, performance, and reliability.
In 2025, we took an important step in our international development by establishing ScaleNordic SL in Spain. This expansion allows us to strengthen our presence within the European Union, reach a wider audience, and bring our products and expertise to musicians and audio professionals across Europe.
Our Founders
Frode Skinstad brings more than 30 years of experience in the music and professional audio industries. With a background in electronics and audiovisual production, his career has included working as a technician, musician, and sales professional within the musical instrument and professional audio sectors. His extensive technical knowledge and practical experience play an important role in product selection, development, and quality evaluation at ScaleNordic.
Robert Storm Olsen has been active in music production since 1990 and founded Procom Music in Norway in 1996. Over the following 25 years, Procom Music developed into a well-established company in the Norwegian music industry, initially focusing on professional audio equipment and musical instruments before expanding into distribution. This extensive background in retail, distribution, and working directly with professional users helped lay the foundation for ScaleNordic.
Together, Robert and Frode bring decades of practical experience, industry knowledge, and a shared passion for professional audio. Their combined expertise continues to guide ScaleNordic's approach to product development, customer relationships, and long-term growth.
