Passive Microphone Attenuator
Triton Audio AirHead is a compact passive attenuator for microphone signals. This earlier version provides a fixed -15 dB attenuation, making it useful when recording loud sources such as drums, guitar amplifiers and brass instruments where the microphone signal can otherwise overload the input stage of a preamp or audio interface.
Operation
AirHead connects directly to an XLR-equipped microphone or anywhere in the balanced microphone signal path. Because it is passive, it requires no batteries or external power. Phantom power passes through the unit to the connected microphone.
Signal Control
Reducing the signal level before it reaches the preamp provides a more usable gain range and helps prevent clipping with high-output microphones or loud sound sources.
