Shotgun Microphone - with Hot Shoe Mount
The Alctron VM-6 is a professional low-noise shotgun condenser microphone designed for use with digital video cameras and camcorders. Built for maximum portability, the VM-6 is battery-powered, compact, and features an integrated shock mount to reduce unwanted handling noise.
Compatible with Hot Shoe Mounts
The VM-6 has a standard camera "hot shoe" mount on the bottom of the shock mount, fitting most modern cameras that adhere to the industry-standard size. The Alctron video microphone also features a 3/8" threaded mount for attaching to a boom pole or stand when camera mounting is not an option.
Battery-Powered Portability
The Alctron VM-6 runs on a single 9V battery, making it easy to transport while ensuring maximum freedom of movement. This is ideal for field recording where power sources are unavailable. Simply lift and slide out the battery cover at the front of the microphone to replace the battery, providing up to 70 hours of continuous use.
Filter and Level Controls
The Alctron VM-6 includes built-in low-pass/high-pass filters (HPF) and a three-way pad. The controls are conveniently positioned on the back of the camera microphone for easy operation. Activating the HPF reduces low-frequency noise, helping to eliminate unwanted mechanical hum, road noise, or other background sounds. The pad switch can be set to -10 dB, 0 dB, or +20 dB to decrease or increase the microphone’s input level.
Pro Tip:
When recording audio to a camera, it’s best to lower the camera’s internal volume as much as possible, select the +20 dB input level on the microphone, and then adjust downward to find the optimal level. The VM-6 performs best when the camera’s "Auto Gain Control" is turned off.
